Montgomery County Show Your Pride 2024 T-Shirt Contest

OVERVIEW

Pride in the Plaza is a festival celebrating Montgomery County’s diverse and beautiful LGBTQIA+ communities. Pride in the Plaza 2024 will take place on Sunday, June 30th, 2024, 12pm-8pm in Veterans Plaza (1 Veterans Pl, Silver Spring, MD 20910).

Festival organizers would like to invite the community to submit designs for the 1st annual Montgomery County Show Your Pride t-shirt contest! The winning design will be made into a t-shirt that will be distributed at Montgomery County Pride in the Plaza on Sunday, June 30th, 2024 in Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring.

All submissions are due by May 15, 2024 and must be submitted online. The Show Your Pride! committee will determine a winner by June 1st. The winner will receive a $1000 gift card.

Design Guidelines

Please read the following guidelines carefully when considering your submission.

  • Artists should consider Pride in the Plaza's vision and values, outlined below, when creating their designs.

    Our Vision: Pride in the Plaza is a celebration of our county’s diverse and beautiful LGBTQIA+ communities.

    Our values:

    • Intersectionality: Pride in the Plaza will center LGBTQIA+ communities of color

    • Trans Inclusion: Pride in the Plaza will prioritize trans and gender expansive communities.

    • Accessibility: Year after year, Pride in the Plaza organizers will strive to make the festival more accessible to more members of our communities.

    • Designs must contain the words “Montgomery County Pride in the Plaza 2024”

    • Sizing: designs must feasibly fit on to the front of a t-shirt.

    • Designs may not contain any trademarked or licensed images prohibited for public use.

  • To be eligible for consideration, artists must consider these rules:

    • Residency: Submitting artists must be Montgomery County residents at the time of submission (college students with permanent addresses in Montgomery County are eligible)

    • LGBTQIA+ residents of Montgomery County, especially those who are trans and gender expansive, Black, Indigenous and/or other People of Color are encouraged to submit designs.

    • Public Recognition: Submitting artists must be willing to be publicly recognized for your work. Anonymous submissions will not be scored. If you are the winner your design and chosen name will be shown at public events during and after Pride Month, and on relevant social media platforms.

    • Artists under the age of 18 are eligible to submit. Should the winner be a person under the age of 18, the consent of a parent or guardian will be required before the design is made public.

  • Designs that contain all of the required design elements will be judged by the committee on the following:

    • Originality - Is it unique and original?

    • Artistry – Is it an eye catching and beautiful piece of artwork?

    • Reproducibility – Is it simple enough to reproduce on a large number of t-shirts in a variety of colors?

    • Vision - Does the design creatively reflect Pride in the Plaza's vision and values?

  • By submitting your design for the Pride in the Plaza 2024 t-shirt, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

    • The design you submit must be original work created by you

    • The design you submit must not be offered for sale anywhere by anyone, and does not contain any trademarks, logos, or other copyrighted material

    • The design you submit must not contain content subject to the right of publicity or privacy, or any other intellectual property belonging to any third party.

    • The design does not infringe upon any rights of any third party

    By submitting your design to be used in the Pride in the Plaza t-shirt contest, you grant us the right to upload, modify, reproduce, copy, exhibit, and create derivative works of, distribute, and display the design in any manner to promote Pride in the Plaza and other LGBTQ+ community events throughout the year.

    If the design is reviewed by the Pride in the Plaza committee, you acknowledge that the committee reserves the right to decline to select the design for any reason at its sole discretion and that its decisions are final and binding.
