REPORT HATE/BIAS, DISCRIMINATION OR BULLYING
Hate or Bias Incidents
If you are a victim of a crime or threat motivated by an actual or perceived identity, or an incident motivated by hate that may not rise to the level of a crime, such as offensive comments or slurs, graffiti, discrimination or intimidation, you are encouraged to report it using Montgomery County’s online reporting form. If you prefer to speak with someone, you may call 3-11. Montgomery County publishes monthly summaries of bias incidents online here.
Discrimination
In addition to protections for race, gender, color, religious creed, genetic status, age and disability, Montgomery County protects LGBTQ+ residents from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and HIV status. If you feel you have been discriminated against in employment; real estate; housing; public accommodations for any of those reasons, you may open a complaint by calling 311, or you may visit Montgomery County Office of Human Rights online intake form by clicking here.
Bullying at School
MCPS handles complaints of discrimination, harassment, or intimidation directed at a student based on a student’s actual or perceived gender identity or expression in the same manner as all other complaints. The Bullying, Harassment or Intimidation Reporting Form should be used to report alleged incidents of bullying, harassment, or intimidation that occurred during the current school year on school property, at a school-sponsored activity or event off school property, on a school bus, on the way to and/or from school, or through a personal mobile device on or off school property. To report bullying, students or families may visit and complete this online form. General information about MCPS’ support of LGBTQIA+ students can be found on montgomeryschoolsmd.org/LGBTQ/.
